Step 1. Open a Direct Instruction
Create a Direct Instruction, or navigate to an existing draft direct instruction that you are an owner or collaborator of.
Step 2. Click “Add firm”
Scroll to the bottom of new or draft direct instruction until you see the “Add Firm” section and click “Add firm”.
Step 3. Select a firm to invite
After clicking the “Add Firm” button, a modal will appear allowing you to search for, and select a firm to invite. You can use the search filters or the free text search box to find the firm you wish to instruct.
Note: By default, only firms who have approved coverage in the jurisdiction/s and practice area/s attached to the direct instructions will show in the modal. To change this, simply deactivate the search filters.
Step 4. Add law firm
After selecting the firm you wish to invite, click on the “Add Law Firm” button.
Step 5. Add recipients
After clicking the “Add Law Firm” button you will be prompted to add recipients. You can search for recipients by either inputting their email address, or by inputting their name if they have been instructed through LegalEye before.
Step 6. Inviting users who do not have a profile on LegalEye
If you are sending the instruction to a user who has not been instructed through LegalEye before, you will need to input the recipient's email address. Once you have input the recipient’s email address, you will see “Invite to LegalEye” appear in the search results with the email address of the recipient underneath. Click the address to add them as a recipient.
If the email address inputted is not from a domain that belongs to the firm, an error message will appear notifying you that the email domain being used is invalid. This is to prevent potentially unauthorised email addresses from receiving the instruction invitation.
Step 7: Confirm and add recipients
Once all desired recipients have been selected, click the “Add” button. You will then be redirected to the Direct Instruction page. At this stage the Direct Instruction has not been sent to the recently defined recipients. Users can use this opportunity to save the instruction as a draft and invite additional internal users into the instruction to review, or they can proceed to send the tender to all defined recipients.
