Written by Raphael Cardona

LegalEye streamlines the Direct Instruction proposal creation process for law firms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and precision. You will be able to create, summarise, save, and review your proposal before submission. This allows you to submit compelling proposals that stand out, ultimately boosting your firm's prospects in securing the matter.

Step 1: Access the Direct Instruction

From your dashboard navigate to the Direct Instructions Index, before opening the relevant direct instruction (see Accessing the Direct Instruction Index and Searching and Filtering your Direct Instructions)

Step 2: Create your Direct Instruction Proposal

Upon accessing the relevant Direct Instruction, you will be redirected to the Proposal Brief tab (see Navigating a Direct Instruction). You will then have option to create your proposal by clicking on “Create Proposal” at the top right corner of your proposal.

Step 2: Enter the Proposal’s Summary

Once you have clicked on “Create proposal”, you will be redirected to the first step of the Direct Instruction proposal creation process, entering your proposal’s summary. As part of your Direct Instruction proposal, you will have to fill in a summary that communicates your proposal’s key details. You can use a diverse range of formatting options, allowing you to add hyperlinks, images and tables to provide a comprehensive and visually appealing overview. Click on “Proceed” to navigate to the next section.

Note: If the direct instruction does not include a scope of work, you will have the option to include the estimated timeframes and bid amount when writing your summary.

Step 3: Input additional information

Follow the step wizard to add all the necessary details that are included in the Direct Instruction. This can include filling out a scope of work and adding attachments to your proposal.

For more information on how to fill these sections, please see the following guides:

  • Adding a Scope of Work to your Direct Instruction Proposal

  • Adding Attachments to your Direct Instruction Proposal

  • Reviewing and submitting your Direct Instruction Proposal

Step 3: Save your Direct Instruction Proposal

After you have entered your proposal summary, you can save your Direct Instruction proposals at any point by clicking the “Save as Draft” button on the bottom left corner of your screen. (See Saving and Updating your Direct Instruction Proposal).

Step 4: Review your Direct Instruction Proposal

The review page displays all of the Direct Instruction Proposal’s information in one consolidated view, allowing you, as the proposal creator, to perform a final comprehensive quality check before finalisation. This holistic review enables you to catch any issues early and verify accuracy and completeness to ensure a higher-quality proposal. The review page will only display the sections you have filled. For example, if you did not complete the Scope of Work, then the Scope of Work section will not be shown on the review page.

If needed, you can edit any of the previously entered information by clicking on “Edit” on the right-hand side of a section. This will redirect you to the relevant step of the proposal creation process.

Step 5: Send your Direct Instruction Proposal

Once you have reviewed your Proposal, click on “Submit Proposal” to send your proposal.
